Review: Jouer Cosmetics Age-Repairing Perfector Cream Foundation

Jouer Cosmetics Age-Repairing Perfector Cream Foundation.

Okay, I have to fess up to something… I am obsessed with foundations! For some reason, I have an insatiable desire to test every foundation on the face of the planet (and I am seemingly doing a very good job of it!). My favorite type of foundation is cream foundation, and I’ll tell you why: Flexibility. For one, they are super portable, and even if one of the cases break, it won’t cause a huge mess in my kit. Second, they can be used full-strength as a cream, or sheered down into a tinted moisturizer, and even made into a liquid foundation with mixing medium. The possibilities are endless! Let’s take a look at a new cream foundation that I’ve discovered, by a brand named Jouer Cosmetics, called the Age-Repairing Perfector.

THE SPECS:

PRICE: $34.00

AMOUNT OF PRODUCT: 5g

SIZE: About the size of an mp3 player, and the thickness of a box of playing cards.

CONSISTENCY: It is a very unique texture. It is definitely solid in the compact, yet when you stroke your brush into the foundation, it seems to turn into a liquid. It’s really quite unique and hard to explain.

SMELL: It has no smell.

THE PACKAGING:

Can we take a second to acknowledge, appreciate, and celebrate this AMAZING packaging?!

One thing that I really appreciate about, well, the world in general, is design. I love design that is practical, clean, and minimal. While I can appreciate grandiose Rococo-inspired design, I’m much more drawn to minimalism. This packaging is like the Apple Computers of packaging. Sleek, sexy, and functional! THE PRODUCT:

Let’s look at the foundation…

The foundation is available in 10 shades, currently, and range in color from #1 Ivory (think Christina Hendricks) to #10 Chestnut (think Naomi Campbell). Given this, some women of color may find that the range will not have a shade available for them, depending on the deepness of their skin tone. Having said that, the foundation is very flexible and blends well with many skin tones. As you will see below, even the foundation that is closest to my natural coloring didn’t swatch as an exact match, yet it melted beautifully with my natural coloring once belnded, providing a match. It’s really quite amazing!

As you can see, the foundation blends gorgeously! It really does feel as “light” as it claims. I also like that you are still able to see the texture of my skin beneath the foundation. Some thicker cream foundations tend to give a “porcelain doll” appearance, which I do not favor. This was not an issue with the Jouer foundation.

REAL WORLD USE:

Tonight I did makeup for the St.John trunk show at the Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship in New York City. I decided that now would be a great time to give the foundation a professional test-run! Let’s see how it turned out…

Here, you can see that we have redness in the skin, darkness around the eyes, and a few minor blemishes to correct. So… how did the Jouer Age-Repairing Foundation work?

AMAZING! The foundation performed as predicted. It was creamy, neutralized the redness, evened the skin tone, and left the skin looking like healthy, plump, dewey… SKIN! I am thoroughly pleased and impressed.

Notice how it did not sit in any of the fine lines around the eye. I also have my Whip Hand Cosmetics Set The Stage Makeup Primer to thank for that!

Well… I highly endorse this foundation for your kit. The company does tout the many long-term nutrient benefits that come with wearing the foundation, but given the nature of my job (working with different clients/models every day) I can’t review that properly. HOWEVER, I can say that it performs like a professional would want it to. If you would like to purchase the Jouer Age-Repairing Perfector Cream Foundation, CLICK HERE.
