ROUGE! WIGS! SHOULDER PADS! Few eras in makeup get me as excited as the 80s. Oh how I LIVE for the perfectly contoured faces, smokey eyes, and venom red lips! As a Netflix subscriber, I have fallen prey to watching any and everything that is “suggested” to me. Being that I was born in 1986, I don’t really have clear memories of television shows from that day-and-age, but getting to become acquainted with them in my adulthood has been a real treat. One show that I have come to love is Dynasty. I have my fabulous hair & makeup artist friends Brian C. Hawkins and Mann Nance for putting me on to these shows of the past; as they CONSTANTLY make reference to them in jokes. The makeup on the show is the thesis of who I am as an artist. All of the girls look like stunning vixens! Whether they are at the Governor’s Ball, or on the operating table (I am not exaggerating), those girls are in full-on makeup! I’m talking 10lbs of pan-stick and rouge from the cheek to the temple! Although I’m still working on Season 1 of the show, it has come to be a little treasure to peek around on Youtube so that I can see the looks of Dominique (played by a 50 year old Diahann Carroll) and Alexis (played by a 50 year old Joan Collins).
